And because of that human contact, Summers says it is critical that human food is not shared with the crocodiles.

He said that is what has made them a possible threat:

Chris Summers, ACES

"No more, no more feeding, like stop the feeding, any direct feeding that's happening where people are doing it on purpose and of course the indirect feeding as well which - when we talk about indirect feeding - we talk about things like fishing scraps and dinner scraps - which are something I noticed in the story last night, I've noted one of the pictures with the croc - he had a filet fish in his mouth - so even though somebody might not have thrown that to him in purpose by discarding that food in the water like that, it's giving him a food source and it's bringing those crocodiles closer to people and it's causing an association of people to food with the animals which is something we definitely don't want."

In related news, we can confirm that a 50 year old man got mauled by a croc in a lagoon near Lemonal today. He got a deep bite through his thigh and lost a chunk of flesh off the back of his leg. He was part of a fishing camp headed from Crooked Tree.
