A press release was sent out today by APAMO refuting comments made on our newscast on July 18th by Minister of Sustainable Development Orlando Habet.
He spoke about "conservation investment" and about leveraging funds.
Well, in a release today, APAMO - whose members co - manage conservation areas - says that they started making those considerations in 2018.
But, a revised Conservation Investment Strategy that PACT was supposed to implement in 2023 but say that, quote, "PACT has changed the plan and the mechanism for implementing, delaying its commencement for all co-managers. To date, this funding has not been implemented. Neither has a revised strategy nor an implementation mechanism have been proposed to co-managers." End quote.
APAMO then says that Habet's statements are, quote, "inaccurate comments being made to cast negative aspersions on co-managers' access and use of funds are unacceptable and reflect the disrespect displayed towards co-managers." End quote.
