Late this evening, the Central American Health and Sciences University sent out a release saying that the man they called "Dr. Ray" presented excellent credentials." It goes on to say that at no time did the college have any reason to doubt his identity or speculate on his past activities in the United States. While local newspaper accounts say that he was a professor of surgery at the school, according to the release, he was teaching anatomy, and was not involved in the practice of medicine or patient care.

The Central American Health and Sciences University defended Dr. Ray's credentials and clarified his role as an anatomy teacher, not a practicing physician.
