An 8 man BEL crew returned to Belize today from Grand Bahama where they were assisting with power restoration efforts in the aftermath of hurricane Frances. The job was already difficult and it became more so when a second hurricane, Gene tore through the island. That's what the BEL boys had to endure, and today the head of delegation told us they are glad to have helped but very happy to be home:

Rodney Baird – Mission Leader
"We are proud to have represented BEL and Belize to the power restoration at Freeport Grand Bahama. The experience was like pretty busy for the past four weeks. Well nevertheless we were up to the challenge and we had safely and significantly contributed to the efforts of power restoration."

"All over the world line work is pretty much the same but is a new experience to meet different groups and to share different thoughts and ideas so it was good."

"Three weeks into the restoration the island was faced with a second hurricane, Gene, and I had tried to make efforts for us to evacuate but it was difficult to get tickets for 8 of us. So I called a meeting with the group and we all decided that we'll stay together rather than to have people stranded and going in different directions. And we had a good plan, we sit out the storm and we're thankful to God we were safe."

"Everybody is glad to be back home. I must say that I'm proud of the guys to safely and effectively do what we were up to."

The team was in the Bahamas for a four weeks.
