When Michael Williams claimed that Dr. Atanascio Cob had punctured his esophagus, it was one of the most high profile medical malpractice cases that’s ever gone before the Belizean courts.

High profile because Williams had the resources to bring in an expert from the United States to testify that Cob had grievously injured Williams. But Cob was vindicated in the Supreme Court in May, and has now been doubly vindicated by the ruling of the Court of Appeals. The Appeal's Court ruled that Cob was merely practicing what is accepted as the standard in Belize and found no negligence based on it.
