Nursing student turned kidney patient Alashika Sterling will arrive in Nashville Tennessee later tonight to begin preparations for her kidney transplant surgery. We've been following the story since last Thursday and with the help of Derek Aikman and Life of the World Ministries, the 22 year old was flown out on a Continental airlines flight this morning.

But even as help is on the way, Alashika's condition continues to deteriorate and this morning she had to be rolled out on a stretcher for transportation to the airport. And while her health was down, her spirits were high as she left the KHMH.

Alashika Sterling,
"I'm not feeling anyway, I just feel good and I thank the Lord for the things that have been going on in my life."

Keith Swift,
What are you expecting in Nashville?

Alashika Sterling,
"Just expect to get through my surgery and come back home and be the nurse that I want to be."

Alashika was waived off by friends and friends at the KHMH but she is accompanied on the trip by her brother Hubert Sterling Jr. who is donating one of his kidneys to her. Her mother is also tagging along and as well as Derek Aikman who is their chaperone in Nashville. She will be immediately transferred to Hendersonville Medical Center where she'll undergo as many as 9 dialysis treatments over the next two weeks. The transplant surgery should follow.
