For more years than we can count - government has been promising to relocate the residents at the Rockview Mental Hospital to a new facility in Belmopan. And while it has been promised many times - this morning for the first time ground was broken on what could finally be a new mental hospital. It's called a halfway house and it will be built as part of a $2.8 million renovation to the Western Regional Hospital. It will be constructed in the San Martin area of Belmopan. Psychiatrist Dr. Claudina Cayetano says the halfway house won't be a carbon copy of the Rockview Mental Hospital.

Dr. Claudina Cayetano, Psychiatrist
"When you're working on your computer there is something called 'copy and paste' and I do not want us to copy Rockview and paste it in Belmopan. If we do that, you imagine the great disappointment that we are doing for our children because at this point we are greatly disappointed at Rockview so if you going to copy and paste Rockview, I think it is a disappointment. We have to be very careful, very mindful in how we are meeting these challenges."
