Wet road conditions also caused a number of traffic accidents on the weekend. The most serious happened on Saturday evening around 6 when Tashira Wagner was driving a pickup truck loaded with 15 passengers from Bella Vista Village to Independence. She was going home after a church meeting.

But between miles 42 and 43 on the Southern Highway, she saw two men riding bicycles on the road, and swerved to avoid them. When she did, the overloaded vehicle toppled over. 13 of her passengers received injuries ranging from scrapes and bruises to arms and legs to a pair of broken hands for 13 year old Tanisha Wagner. 21-year-old Deona Williams was the most seriously injured with head and neck injuries. She is in the KHMH recovering.

There was another accident later Saturday night. Around 9:00 pm, 36-year-old Kevin Bowen was driving on the Western Highway when he knocked down 37 year old Henric Sutherland who was riding a bicycle. Sutherland received injury to his arms and legs and was reported in a stable condition at the KHMH.
