Belize City Police are awaiting results of a post mortem to determine what caused the death of seven month old Elmer Elton Hauze. The baby boy was pronounced dead sometime after five this morning when he was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Today 7NEWS caught up the distraught parents who are at a loss as to what could have happened to their son. They told 7NEWS that their baby was born a healthy child and the only thing he was suffering from was a cold but nothing serious. According to David Anthony Hauze and Maria Loriano when they put their baby to bed last night he was well but something happened during the course of the night that left them totally unprepared for what they discovered early this morning.

“We put her in the bed to sleep and when we wake up this morning he wasn’t breathing or nothing and we rushed him to the Karl Heusner. The doctor said put him on the bed and we put him on the bed and few minutes later the doctor told us he was dead.”

Was your son or nothing at all?
David Anthony Hauze,
“Nothing was wrong with him, he was a perfect healthy baby. I don’t know, I can’t say nothing because I don’t know what happened to him.”
Maria Loriano, Mother
“This morning when I woke up, when he went to work, his father went to work, he gets up five o’clock to get to work and usually at that time the baby was already wake but this morning when I woke up, he wasn’t moving none at all so I rushed him to the emergency room and they pronounced him dead on arrival.”

“Yes he sleeps with us.”
David Anthony Hauze,
“I guess it is just a natural death, that is what I believe right now because nothing happened to him. He wasn’t sick, he was healthy, he had cough and cold and he was getting treated for that so that wasn’t the problem. He was perfectly healthy; he was a healthy baby.”
Late this evening 7NEWS contacted the baby’s father. According to David Anthony Hauze, Chief Pathologist Dr. Mario Estradabran explained to them that their son died due to fluid in the right lung that may have been contributed by a bottle of milk Baby Elmer Hauze drank before he was put to bed. The father told 7NEWS that after his son had his bottle he was burped as usual and fell asleep about an hour later.
