Fmr. PM Esquivel Recovering After 12 Hour Surgery

12 hours – that’s how long Manuel Esquivel was in the operating theatre at Jackson Memorial in Miami. The surgery itself lasted about 10 hours and today his daughter Laura reports that it went without incident and he is recovering.
Still, it’ll be a tough recovery as Esquivel’s jaw had to be wired shut and will remain so for a few weeks. His jaw was broken in three places.

Laura Esquivel says he remains sedated and will be that way for the next few days as the doctors ease him into a regular schedule. No more surgery is expected.
