Remember Tarrell Sutherland - the 5 year old boy suffering with the rare skin disorder Icthyosis? We haven't seem him on this newscast since he came back to Belize in December of 2010 - when he was doing much better. But the long dry season took a toll on him and around May, just as he turned six, his skin started breaking out with infections once again. That means he has to go back to the states for restorative treatments. His mother told us about his situation today:.

Nicole McDougal, Mother
"Since then Jules the first six months that Tarrell came back home was awesome. Tarrell did a great job. Within the 7th and the 8th month that is when he start to have the infections back-to-back, I guess basically because of the heat and the changing of the climate. It just throw him off. Right now his feet break out and last 3 weeks he had his face broken out and he never only had blisters but he had pus inside the blisters. Since then he had always been on the anti-biotics."

Jules Vasquez
"He can't walk."

Nicole McDougal, Mother

"He can't walk because with the knee that break out you can see all the infection sin the knee. At this time we are planning to do some fund raising - barbeque and food sale and stuff like that and so we ask the public for support by buying the stuff."

They already have the air conditioner and much of the building supplies for that special Tarrell room. The family lives in Libertad in the Corozal district. We'll tell you when they'll start with those bar-b-que's.
