And while the PM was all over the emotional spectrum today, bristling at foot dragging public officers, trying to woo the business sector and doing the usual hurly burly with the press, we asked how he's holding up with his wife's present difficulties.
As has been widely reported, she's been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and is already doing chemotherapy.
He said he's doing ok - but he will have to travel frequently:
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
"She's doing as well as can be expected, but for me, it's very clear that I will be there to support her. It does mean that I will leave every 3 weeks as she goes for the chemotherapy treatments, and will be out for 4 or 5 days each time I go. But in this world of instant communications, I don't think that this is much of a problem as it otherwise might have been. I still intend to keep my finger firmly on the pulse and to ensure that all goes as well we can make it goes in this country. Sad for myself, it's just a matter of being by her side and being with her as she goes through what's going to be a long, difficult, and arduous process."
