At the top of the News, we told you about hurricane Eta that's currently wreaking havoc on the coast of Nicaragua.
It's also already caused major flash floods in Honduras, with roadways looking like rivers, and the report of a child dying when a house fell in San Pedro Sula.
And that's why Belize has to be very ready for very serious rains.
NEMO's latest advisory says "There is a possibility that the remnants of Eta could develop into a tropical storm over the weekend as it heads generally north-eastward away from Belize or it could move over Belize before moving out to sea.
The major threat from Eta continues to be heavy rainfall and flooding. Rainfall totals of 10-20 inches with locally higher amounts are anticipated. Winds are becoming gusty which could produce large swells along the coast. Belize is outside the Hurricane and Tropical storm wind field however the outer cayes are currently experiencing an increase in wind and wave action."
A flood watch has been put into effect for western and southern Belize with populations living along those rivers and streams being urged to relocate to higher ground.
Those who are NOT Covid positive, in quarantine, waiting for a test result, or showing symptoms are advised to evacuate early, should the need arise.
The Ministry of Health (MoH) will conduct daily monitoring of shelters to detect people who are sick and showing signs of COVID19.
