A new government has only been elected yesterday and a Minister of Health not yet named, but the Nurses Association of Belize is already demanding that the Ministry look into the unfair distribution of the COVID-19 relief assistance.
In a press release they say that supervisors and office personnel who have no direct contact with the COVID-19 program or patients have received monies from the relief fund while staff working directly under the program have gotten nothing.
Apparently, staff members who have contracted the virus working in the program have also not received a thing. The request for the relief package was negotiated specifically for the staff who are working directly with patients. The association has reached out to the Ministry but has not received any response from them. They are not demanding that the situation be corrected.
