What are the latest COVID numbers? That's what everyone has been asking for the past two days. We hadn't gotten new figures since November 30th - breaking a trend that started in April with the publication of comprehensive daily infographics.

And they appear nightly on the Director of Health Services Facebook page, but on December first, visitors to the page were greeted with this message:

"…we will not be posting the routine infographic tonight as we are currently completing the merging of data to include rapid testing results into the established format, the data from private sector is also now being merged. We will be providing a detailed update tomorrow morning."

Well, that detailed report should have come out yesterday morning - but it came out 20 minutes ago.

It says that there have been four new deaths and 241 new cases. It provides no other details on the ages or home districts of the deceased.

A release says the daily infographic now includes include the antigen rapid testing results for COVID-19 starting today, December 3, 2020.

The change comes after a terrible November that saw 89 COVID related deaths - an average of three per day. That one-month tally for November is one and a half times the total number of deaths that had been recorded in the 7 months between March and October.

Sources within the ministry say that the responsibility for compiling the infographic has been taken away from the desk of the Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero.
