And - because of the COVID variants that are in circulation - the Belize Tourism Board is also changing the requirements for travellers entering the country.

Also starting on Monday, August 9th all travellers - whether they have a vaccine or not - will need to print a negative COVID - 19 test. That's a PCR test taken within four days of travel, or a rapid test taken within 48 hours.

A release says that " If no test is presented, a COVID-19 test will be administered at the airport for a fee of $50 US per passenger." We presume that also includes Belizean travellers - who have been vaccinated.

And while that is for air travellers, for those coming by land at the Northern and Western Borders, they will be administered a Rapid Test for COVID-19 by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, which they will have to pay for.

No external PCR or Rapid Test will be accepted at these points of entry.

The release adds, "These measures are being put in place in view of the increased risks posed by recent variants of the Covid-19 virus…"
