Last night we told you that Chandra Nisbet Cansino had been chosen to take over as CEO of the KHMH. Cansino will take direction from a re-constituted board - as one of the Minister of Health's relatives has stepped aside, as has another family associate - and Dr. Fernando Cuellar and Mrs. Daisy Codd have stepped in.

But also coming on board will be a rep from the KHMHA Workers' Union. A press release says the Minister has requested that the laws governing the KHMHA be amended to allow for the KHMHA Workers' Union to have a seat on the board to, quote, "ensure that all employees concerns are addressed at the board level and also to further ensure transparency and accountability."

We asked the new CEO how that will work:

Chandra Cansino, New C.E.O., K.H.M.H.
"In regards to the union's representation, I think it is very important to have the unions at the table, at the point of decision-making. I think it helps to improve that communication between the management and the broader staff; they really represent a large percentage of the workers at Karl Heusner and so I see that particular move as something positive."

Nisbet Cansino takes up her post on October 15th. She is currently the General Manager Corporate Customer Relations Services at the Social Security Board.
