But back to the Omicron strain, one of the reasons it is less severe and more contagious has to do with how the virus spreads; Dr. Beer explains:

"Omicron seems to increase the number of cases but the hospital for patients reach is shorter compared to delta. The persons reaching to need hospital services is lower than with the delta hence the number of persons complicating or dying to covid is less, so in the case of omicron while it 70 times faster at multiplying, at the level of the bronchus in the lung is lower which explains the decrease in the severity of the disease."
