And while the Southern Regional is flaring up, the KHMH union has just died down. The union sent out a release yesterday saying it has gotten solid commitments from the hospital administration and is now standing down on industrial action. A release says, quote, "After a series of discussions between the Ministry of Health and Wellness, KHMHA administration, Labour Department and the KHMH workers union, the union "has decided to, for the moment, halt its plan of industrial action.

The union has gotten a commitment from the Ministry and the Administration to, quote, "provide a continuous supply of materials, adequate laboratory testing and pharmaceuticals of good quality. (The Ministry) has also set a timeline of six (6) months (for) the arrival and installation of a new CT-scan at the KHMHA."

So while that is squared away for the time being - the union is also angry about the removal of Chairman, Dr. Andre Sosa. The release adds, quote, "The union takes this opportunity to voice its….discontent with the removal of the Chair of the Board of Governors…Dr. Sosa understands the plight of the hospital making him a suitable advocate for the (hospital) and its patients...He worked hand in hand with the union to ensure the betterment of the hospital and its staff and proper care for…patients...The (union) calls for the Minister of Health and Wellness to reconsider the removal of Dr. Sosa as the Chair of the KHMHA Board."

But, from the vibes we've been getting, that isn't likely. In fact, our information says it's the minister who fired Dr Sosa by an email simply saying to the board, quote, "...I am hereby advising the board that I have made a change to the Chairmanship of the Board of Governors..."

Banker Martin Marshalleck is rumored to be the next Chairman.
