Earlier in the news, you heard from the Minister of Health about the smoke that's been smothering the Cayo District. Yesterday, we also asked the Cayo North area rep about the complaints he's been hearing from residents of San Ignacio - a portion of which is in the heart of his constituency. He said public health inspectors are on the ground assessing.

Everyone is concerned because it causes a lot of breathing associated sicknesses. It's the time of the year when people are preparing the farm, for planting down the road when the rain comes plus the forest fires that are happening. It's really really terrible, it's hot, it makes an already hot situation even more unbearable as you can see, it's very hot out here today, when you look outside it's very hazy and so it is a health concern for all of us."
