Tonight, there are no major new developments in the case of sexual assault against Doctor Desmond Arzu. But, the Medical Council has not suspended his license - in fact, they say they will only do so after his case finishes in court - which we know, can take years. The Chairman Dr Atanascio Cob told us yesterday, quote, "The Council will consider the sanctions to be imposed if he is guilty of charges made against him."

So, they are waiting for the criminal case to wind up in a matter which happened in a Doctor's office. In the interim, since his license remains, in theory Doctor Arzu can continue to practice privately. He cannot do so publicly since he has been suspended by the Ministry of Health.

So, might Dr Arzu return to Dr. Marenco's clinic in Punta Gorda where the alleged assault of the 23 year old occurred on March 26th?

We asked him today via WhatsApp and he told us, quote, "Dr Arzu has decided to suspend his Ultrasound clinics in my Office until further notice. At this point in the ongoing case I prefer NOT to refer to anything related (to the case). It may be sufficient to say that I facilitated my office to provide a service very much needed by our people in Toledo." End quote.

But, we repeat, the Medical Council has not suspended his license so Dr Arzu - who is a radiologist - can continue to practice at any other private clinic.
