And it's especially impactful on the friends and families left behind. Oftentimes they blame themselves for not noticing "the signs." And because there is that feeling of guilt, Courtenay says it's important for them to also reach out and ask for help:

"Each situation is going to be unique, right? Because there's a whole path that led people to that particular point. And so I, of course, as a service provider, recommend that people get into therapy to help them deal with their specific set of circumstances based on what the specific situation is."

"Because sometimes there are things that people ignored or didn't take seriously. Sometimes there isn't at all. But either way, generally people could absolutely benefit and do a much better job at healing and grieving and moving forward in their lives with significant meaning if they are able to get help."
