A family in the Corozal District claims that their matriarch was neglected by medical staff at the San Narciso Polyclinic while waiting to be attended to. According to Jose Rodriguez, his grandmother had visited the polyclinic for a checkup but was forced to wait hours in the sun which caused her to faint and break four fingers from the fall. The family believes that the clinic is at fault, because they did not open at the scheduled time, and she was not prioritized due to her age.

Voice of: Jose Rodriguez, Grandson who Blames Clinic
This happened in Corozal District, San Narciso. I think it's San Narciso polyclinic. So they didn't open on the time stated that they were supposed to open and they had my grandmother waiting under the sun and her blood pressure went below."

"And that's what caused her to faint. And on the date that the incident happened, the doctor that was supposed to check, I mean, he was supposed to work there. He did check her, but he said that it was only two fingers that were broken."

"And today she went to the Corozal Community Hospital to get her, you know, hand check again. And they did another X-ray. Now this X-ray shows that she has four of her, fingers from her left hand broken."

"And they did cast it today. But then it's over five days that this incident happened. And until today, they find out that she have two more fingers broken. So I don't know what kind of professionalism those on the clinic have, or I'm not sure what they were thinking, not opening on their hours that they were supposed to open because people were out there same with her and she was the one that had to pay the consequences of what did happen on that day. And it's not the first time that something like this is happening out there because today she went to the hospital in Corozal. She reached Corozal Hospital from 5.45 this morning. And she get medical attention until 12."

We hope to get a response from the Ministry of Health tomorrow.
