On Sunday night two minors from August Pine Ridge Village were rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital after reportedly ingesting bread suspected to have been laced with poison.

Police learned from their mother that she was at a neighbor's house where she found a plastic bag containing three sweet breads. She took the bag home and gave the bread to her children to eat.

Her daughter, who is 16 years old reportedly took a bite and noticed a white powdery substance on top of the bread. Shortly after, she began experiencing difficulty breathing. Her 7 year old brother also took a bite but quickly spat it out and complained of feeling dizzy.

She immediately rushed both children to the Northern Regional Hospital where they were attended to by medical personnel. Police spoke with the doctor on call who stated that the exact type of poison ingested is unknown. However, both minors are reported to be in stable condition and remain hospitalized under observation. It is now a police investigation.
