Last week we showed you the incongruous scene of a premier bus slumming in the far reaches of Lake Independence. The bus - flanked by tight police security - was full of World Bank big wigs and a group of Cabinet All - Stars who were - so to speak - taking a walk on the wild side to get a first hand feel for some of the forces driving poverty and violence.
Today the world bank sent a release saying that there were 10 Executive Directors of the World Bank Group and the Bank's Executive Director for Belize Katharine Rechico, said, quote, "the realities of the multidimensional challenges faced by Belize were made clear during this visit."
This visit to Belize was the first ever under the World Bank's Executive Directors Group Travel, who also visited two other countries in the region.
