Police Say Traffic Accidents are on the Decrease

And despite that accident, the number of traffic fatalities are sharply down this year. According to figures released today from the police department, there is a 44% reduction in the number of fatalities from January to June of this year. 43 fatalities were reported during the same period last year, compared to just 24 this year, meaning 19 fewer deaths. But 19 is still too many and the Departments of Transport, Police and Belize City traffic are teaming up for a multi agency initiative called Iron Impact. It will target drunk and high speed drivers with patrols and public awareness messages.
