Call it Christmas in November but flood-battered residents of the Cayo District got some much needed material relief yesterday. NEMO working in coordination with the Cayo Disaster Emergency Committee, took household items into the Calla Creek and Bullet Tree communities to residents that lost everything.
25 families in Calla Creek and 9 families in Bullet Tree Falls were given butane stoves, gas tanks, sofa sets, refrigerators and mattresses. Additionally houses that were affected by flood waters are also being repaired. This humanitarian effort is sponsored by local suppliers from throughout the country.
Before delivery, village chairpersons were contacted and each family simply had to sign off on what they received.
