We also asked the commissioner about his new vehicle, a fancy 2021 Ford SUV - with all the bells and whistles. Seems it's like the third fancy ride we've seen the COMPOL sporting in about a year - so we asked about it:
Jules Vasquez
"Sir, why do you switch vehicles so often? this place when I came here today it was like a cemetery of your past vehicles. I see Mr. Rosado in the Mazda, I see a next one in the Kia. These are all fine sports SUVs and now you have a new one, a FORD Everest. Sir, why you need to change vehicle so often?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"The vehicle I was using before was a confiscated vehicle. The vehicle had mechanical issues and as the commissioner of police, I traverse this country a lot dealing with issues and it is important that I have a vehicle that is reliable when I'm on the road and it was with that spirit that I got a new vehicle and the one I had before was passed down to Mr. Rosado who needed a vehicle as well. So it's not like we are changing vehicle and we are selling off or giving away, no, it stays within the police department for commanders who actually needs vehicle."
Jules Vasquez
"Is it that you are breaking up the vehicles, sir?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Jules, I don't understand what you are coming with. Like I said the vehicle was a confiscated vehicle, it do came with some issues and yes, I do on rough terrains, I go across the country. I don't sit in an office in Belmopan and give instructions from there, I am all over the place. Like you see right now I am on my tour, I will go all over the country again. When things happen in areas I need to go and sometimes I go in areas that have rugged terrain and I need to have a reliable vehicle. Even when it comes to plane landings, I also respond to plane landings. Sometimes I am way in the bushes, thick jungles in vehicles. I need to have a reliable vehicle."
As we said, the COMPOL is out of country and returns on June 5th.
