"B-Plates" - those are the ones assigned to government vehicles - and if you drive around this country enough you can see them in all configurations, work pickups assigned to the police and ministry of infrastructure vehicles, slightly stylish mid range SUV's assigned to heads of department, and then the fancy rides: full size SUV's and first world pickups, maybe carrying a single B-plate, but tinted and tricked out - a government ride that turned into some public employee's personal showboat.

Well, car czar Ashton Longsworth - who's the head of the vehicle care unit is intent on stopping the profiling with government rides.

He issued a memorandum one week ago from the Manager of the Assets and Utilities telling CEO's, Heas of Department's and Finance Officers that there are now requirements for receiving their insurance stickers - which have to be pasted on by the end of this month.

The notice says vehicles should not be tinted, must have front and rear plates, and should have decals.

Longsworth says he'll be on enforcement stops next week and vehicles that don't meet the requirements will not get insurance stickers.

These rules, we should note do not cover CEO's and Minister's since their vehicle protocol is set by the Cabinet Secretary.
