Tonight a family in the Lake Independence area is without a home, after it toppled to the ground early this morning. We spoke with two of the residents today, who are in urgent need of assistance. Jomarie Lanza has this story
The Reyes family in the Lake Independence area was startled awake this morning at 5:30 to the cracking and snapping sounds of their home on stilts, collapsing into swampy, muddy water.

"This morning all i feel when the house just collapse, like one little rock or a little plane it just fall, it fall apart it fall down."

"Hmm I was sleeping when I felt like my house is coming down and i got frightened and jumped off the bed and when I looked around I just saw my bed crumbled and then when i noticed the whole house is on the ground."
The wooden home managed to withstand the wrath of Hurricane Lisa in November, but finally gave out today, and came crashing down with a bang with all 6 family members inside, including an expecting mother and her two year old child."

"Well from The hurricane that's what leaned it on the side so i knew at any moment it would drop but I didn't know when."

"And all the damage and everything inside? How did it stay?"

"It's in a horrible state, in a mess. all the clothes are wet up, TV on the ground, fan, fridge everything is on the ground."

"It affect we bad cause right now we no have nowhere to sleep only me and my mother, father and baby, my brother and sister, we have nowhere to stay nowhere to rest our heads so"
"Me and my family, my mother want assistance, nobody is here to assist her. So we need help."
