There was a major shake up on board American Airlines flight 513 from Miami to Belize today. The Boeing 737 encountered what the Airline calls unexpected moderate turbulence this afternoon, injuring a total of 4 people,
The airline's media relations office confirms that three flight attendants were transported to the hospital for further observation, while one passenger was treated at the airport for minor injuries.
A total of 111 passengers were on board along with 6 crew members. We were informed that one attendant was hit with a food cart while a passenger was injured in the restroom. We spoke via phone with one passenger who was coming in from Florida, who shared her experience with us this evening
Airport operations staff at PGIA told us they did dispatch EMT's to the flight when it landed to assess the injuries. After that the three attendants requested to be taken to the hospital. the injuries are not life threatening.
Without crew the jet could not return to Miami and passengers who were scheduled to fly out today had to re schedule their flights until tomorrow.
