And if the joint unions want to maintain any kind of pressure on the government - they will have to get their muscle from the BNTU membership.
Ever since the Briceno Administration stared them down and won in 2021, the once mighty Union has not been able to bend Government to its will - as it had done with past administrations.
But, they have a new president and a new commitment to holding the line:

"When Nadia Caliz led the Stann Creek Branch, Hon. Patrick Faber called me PUP. Now PUP is in power, I guess I would be called a UDP. But my mouth belongs to no political party, my brain belongs to no political party, it's a gift from God, and the BNTU belongs to no political party."
"That's why, as I said, there's a rebirth of the BNTU, we'll gather, we will look at everything going on, and then we'll farm a new mandate going forward. But I do know we're coming after the system."
