The reconstruction of the Bridge is projected for completion in 2028 - but work starts next month - meaning that city residents can expect two years of serious traffic congestion.

MIDH Minister Espat says that as part of the project's initial phase, plans are underway for the construction of a temporary bridge, intended to maintain connectivity while long-term reconstruction proceeds.

Julius Espat, Minister of Infrastructure Development & Housing
"That's one of the most complex situations that we have to face; the chief engineer is working diligently to look into that. The economic impact that we'll have during the construction process. Remember we are doing now two bridges nearly parallel in its, in the time frame, what we're doing is as I mentioned we're having a temporary bridge we call it which will now become permanent that links Hyde's lane to the southside and then when the Belcan bridge commences we'll have another temporary bridge there. So now the chief engineer will sit with the city council and the traffic department to look at traffic flows and see how that works."
