Is the increase in fuel prices slowing down the public service? We know that government departments operate with fuel quotas and because of the sky high price of fuel, have to cut back on operations because the monthly budget gets blown faster than usual. So does the Public Service Ministry make adjustments? Here's what the minister told us.
Henry Charles Usher, Minister of Public Service
"Certainly. I mean, it's an additional expense, to departments, to ministries. Fuel expense is an additional expense. So we have to be able to budget for that. When we created or prepared the budget, there was a proposed or projected expense when it came, when it came to fuel. We know that it's probably going to go up now because of the additional costs. We have to factor that in going forward with the projects And the services being provided by whatever, department or ministry."
