While the matter of criminal charges is a definite wait-and-see, the entire incident has exposed the need for the BDF to lock down ownership of its camp and training sites so they can be designated solely for their operations, never to be sold as private land.
Florencio Marin Jr., Minister of National Defense & Border Security
"The BDF now is in the process of acquiring land so that in the future they don't have to deal with this issue of which ever government comes in or whichever ministers come in they cannot arbitrary get access to their lands. The military needs its training grounds we have to continue operating and so we are working on that's securing some operating area that they can conduct their drills and training and where necessary live firing appropriately."

"So what do you think of the fact that Baldy Beacon essentially has been sold - should GOB try to buy it back?"
Florencio Marin Jr.
"I'd rather the Minister of Lands comment on those."
Jo-
"Will you all now have to move to ensure that the government has title for all BDF camps etc?"
Florencio Marin Jr.
"Yes that it was what we are working on for all military training grounds that pertains to the military."
"We are now looking for new lands at this time and will be working the Ministry of Natural Resources. So that IS where we will operate from now to the future it will be property of the Belize Defence Force."
