They will, they won't, they might, they might not - that's the way it's been all day with top level government bureaucrats talking about the release of the findings of an internal probe at the Immigration Department. A press release detailing the major findings and assessing blame was to have been issued today, but just before news-time we were told that the statement has to be vetted by the Prime Minister himself - and he is in Guatemala - where, apparently, faxes and phones don't work. But while his office delays the inevitable - and everyone else remains quiet - there are indications that the conduct of select senior personnel in the department have come under scrutiny in an investigation that is partially completed. This scrutiny we understand extends up to the director's office, where disciplinary action could be taken. While all this remains unconfirmed, the much anticipated statement we understand will be released tomorrow.
