It is official: after less than two years at the head of the scandal-ridden Immigration Department, Colonel Peter Parchue is out.
A government release today confirmed a story we first reported three weeks ago that Parchue was being transferred from the head of immigration to a desk job at the National Emergency Management office in Belmopan. So as of tomorrow June 1, Parchue takes up his new appointment as Deputy Coordinator of NEMO and he is being replaced by Senior Immigration Officer Gareth Murrillo who the release stresses is only the acting director.
A former BDF Colonel, Parchue took over the Immigration Department as the medicine for corruption, leaves the immigration department in embarrassment as earlier this year his daughter was charged with misappropriating funds from the department.
