And the Chamber of Commerce today echoed concerns about Social Security's investments. After a review of documents presented to the Social Security Board, the board representatives from the Chamber and the National Trade Union Congress say they "remain dissatisfied with the process under which the loans, investments, loan guarantees and securitization programs were conducted." The Chamber and the NTUCB have recommended that what they call the "Social Security Debacle" would be best examined through senate hearings, along with a full and independent audit. The Senate could order this with the approval of a simple majority independent of the government. We should note that due to its current composition, it is impossible to gain a simple majority without the cooperation of the government appointees to the Senate.
