The social partners got their senate hearings into Social Security, but now GOB says that if they want a special audit, well they'll have to pay for that one themselves. That was disclosed today in a joint release from the social partners which says that they will be meeting shortly to, quote "discuss how best to proceed with the special financial audit," which we do not take to be a commitment. The opposition has complained that the senate hearings will be tainted by the fact that the government controls the majority in the senate and will thus control the select subcommittee. Moreover all findings of the senate must be sent to the national assembly for consideration and further action.
