The Belize Printers Association also won a pair of major victories in the court of appeals today. First the court denied the appeal of the Government of Belize, and upheld justice Denys Barrow's ruling that the government must produce the 5-year contract it inked with Print Belize limited. Barring an appeal, that secret contract must now be sent to the supreme court within 14 days which will then decide if it is in the public interest for the contract to be disclosed. And while that's one victory, the other is that the appeals judges over-ruled justice Barrow's decision and ordered the government to produce an inventory of the assets that were included in the privatization.

The Printers Association's challenge is that government divested that national asset at way below market value when it sold the National Printery to private interests for 2.4 million dollars. Again, it is not clear if government will appeal further, but, if it does, it would do so at the great costs associated with a privy council hearing and the fare on that meter is already running as government has to bear costs for both of today's appeals.
