Cabinet is going on a retreat next week at the Caye Chapel Island Resort. It's a plush high-end destination, and more than that, Cabinet members will be regaled by Tony Quinn, who advertises on his own website that he commands the highest fees in the world. So who's going to pay for all that - plus Bermuda shorts and beachfront cocktails for the cabinet posse? That's what we asked Attorney General Francis Fonseca today.

Jules Vasquez,
Should taxpayers have to pay for the PUP's soul searching retreat and how much will it cost taxpayers?

Hon. Francis Fonseca,
"Quite frankly I don't know what the cost will be. I don't know anything about that. But it is not something being borne, as I understand it, by taxpayers of Belize. It is not just soul searching, it is real hard work; planning for the future of Belize."

Jules Vasquez,
I know the consultant is rumored to be, a report in England says that it is twelve thousand pounds for a two week seminar. Is that what you all will be paying?

Hon. Francis Fonseca,
"About US$20,000...my understanding is that that is the cost of the seminar but I don't know who will be paying that. That is a matter for the Ministry of Finance."

Belize Natural Energy Directors Sheila McCaffrey and Susan Morrice are Tony Quinn's star pupils.
