The UDP today sent out a release saying that the departure of four ministers in two weeks shows a government that is unstable and one which has lost its mandate. The UDP release urges the Prime Minister to, "immediately resign and set a date for election or face the grave consequences of the collective wrath and frustration of the Belizean people."
In two other items of note: though there has been no official release, those in the Prime Minister's camp say that he did return from Venezuela encouraged that the CDB will proceed with a US$25 million policy based loan. There has been some concern that this loan was in jeopardy after the flap over the hidden guarantees and the subsequent resignation of the Financial Secretary.
And in one more item of note, 7NEWS has received reports which say that as per the terms of the Universal settlement deed, the Belize Bank has initiated proceedings to go to the London Court of International Arbitration to recover its US$33.5 million from the government.
