16, it’s the magic number in Belizean electoral politics because it qualifies as a simple majority. And now the PUP reform movement has reached that stage of critical mass. 7NEWS is informed that the Belmopan constituency has written in support of the proposal for more delegates. According to the reformers, that makes it 16 constituencies who have signed their support unto the proposal – and the reform leaders, namely Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde have contacted the party’s secretary general to inform him of this. Espat urges Secretary General Henry Usher that the party leadership has an obligation to listen to this demand. We’ll wait and see where that one goes.
