Geraldine Davis Young, she’s the head of the Financial Intelligence Unit and now she’s gotten into a he-said, she-said situation with the former Prime Minister. Yesterday, the government sent out a press release declaring that the former Prime Minister had misrepresented to the House in August of 2006, when he said that Davis-Young had been provided with the report of the Senate Special Select Committee. When she met with the new Prime Minister, she said that indeed his predecessor had not provided her with the report. And he didn’t. Government’s legal advisor Gian Ghandi did though.

Today Davis-Young clarified; she told us that it was never officially sent to her; that Ghandi had simply forwarded it to her, but it came with no written directive. She said that without the accompanying Mark Hulse audit which listed the account numbers, it was not very useful to her. She says that she asked Ghandi for that, but it was never provided and she never followed up – which she acknowledges as her fault.
