On Friday we showed you all the pomp and pageantry of the opening of the new session of the House of Representatives. Featured prominently in that was Brian ‘Yellowman’ Audinett, the new mace–bearer for the new term of the House of Representatives. He’s another in a line of colorful characters who’ve held that post, where it seems you’ve got to at least have a great nickname to qualify for the job. And if you don’t believe that, witness this list: Shubu, Brutus and now the man known to his friends as “Yellows.”
And on Friday, he looked the part, decked out in his linen guayabera on the same steps he at one time helped to wreck. So now that he’s come full circle, we had to ask him, how does it feel and what’s it worth?
Jules Vasquez,
A lot of people are saying you are the same one who broke up these steps when you all were stoning the National Assembly. How does it feel now to be on the other side of that equation?
Brian ‘Yellowman’ Audinett,
“It feels good to be on the other side. It is a strange feeling to have been down here fighting and then to go up there in the National Assembly, it is a really strange feeling.”
Jules Vasquez,
You feel you earned it?
Brian ‘Yellowman’ Audinett,
“Earned it, earned it…and make them know I am not collecting big money.”
Jules Vasquez,
I have heard you are making $36,000 a year on this job. Is that true?
Brian ‘Yellowman’ Audinett,
“PUP again, what do you expect – they are liad.”
Jules Vasquez,
How much are you making?
Brian ‘Yellowman’ Audinett,
“I am not really sure as yet but I will find out when I go to the top.”
Jules Vasquez,
But it is not $36,000 a year?
Brian ‘Yellowman’ Audinett,
“Far less than that.”
