The Opposition is going through another executive re-configuration. Yes, the party had a divisive national convention just last year - and conventional wisdom was that it had emerged from that fortified. But as the budget debate recently showed, when Cordel Hyde and Mark Espat were absent, the plane can't fly with just one wing.
And so those two have been brought back into the executive fold. The party's national executive met today and according to a release it "discussed and unanimously approved" the installation of Francis Fonseca, Cordel Hyde and Mark Espat, as Senior Deputy Party Leaders. They differ from regular Deputy Leaders Mike Espat and Carolyn Trench-Sandiford who will continue as Deputy Party Leaders. That's five deputies - surely a modern record - and so we assume Deputy Dan Silva is officially history.
Today we asked the Prime Minister what he thought of this vision, of revision:
PM Dean Barrow

"You will not be surprized if I tell you that it leaves me speechless; I'm not going to be unkind. I wish Mr. Briceno well in his manuverings. And to me it does seem to be labor of "Sisyphus". It seems destined to keep rolling the ball to the top of the hill and have it roll back down, and then to go at it again."
Also getting an upgrade is Florencio Marin Jr. who will now serve as Parliamentary Liaison on the National Executive.
And the leader's brother Jaime Briceno, will now serve as Co-Chairman of the National Campaign Committee along with Senator Eamon Courtenay.
