She's part of a three-way race in Sunday's UDP Caribbean Shores Convention, but Ann Marie Williams has already won - won something else that is.
She's been selected to participate in Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Women in Public Service Project. 50 women were chosen to participate from over 200 worldwide who were nominated.
It's a 10-day training which starts off in San Francisco and ends in Washington DC.
Ann-Marie told us that she was elated when she got the news:
Ann-Marie Williams - Winner of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Women in Public Service Project
"I got a call about a week and a half ago saying that I'm in. Jules, it was very humbling; it's an honor, and it's something that I never really expected. It's an amazing opportunity to meet women from all over the world. The 50 women who have been chosen, some of them are ministers, vice-ministers, some of them head executive organizations and statutory boards like myself. But it's so great because it's an opportunity to network, to learn about their best practices, and see how well we can use what we've learnt."
Jules Vasquez
"A cynical interpretation might say that, 'Okay, you won, and congratulations are certainly in order. It's a great distinction, but it hasn't been officially announced yet, and you are only timing the announcement to maximize the political benefit you will get a few day before the convention.'"
Ann-Marie Williams
"Well, it will be announced tomorrow, and the only reason it was not announced today is because the person who will send out the official release is not in. But I was told that I could send it out myself. So it will be announced tomorrow."
Jules Vasquez
"So it couldn't be election airing, then?"
Ann-Marie Williams
"Well it couldn't be election airing because I was asked for this nomination from in October, and I will have to leave directly after the convention. So, it's very appropriate. The timing is right."
The program starts next month...
