Last week, we told you how the National Evangelical Association of Belize came out swinging against the Barrow Administration. That's because according to them, the Prime Minister and the National AIDS Commission's Chair have decided to exclude Evangelicals from the consultation process related to the shelved Equal Opportunities Bill.

As we told you, the NEAB has insisted that from its reading of the draft bill, they interpret it to be a pro-LGBT initiative. Well, the gay rights activist, Caleb Orozco, and his organization, UniBAM, are accusing NEAB of being dishonest and disingenuous.

In a press release sent today, Orozco and UNIBAM say quote "NEAB's attack on L.G.B.T Belizeans, is designed to confuse and sustain a culture of bigotry in a country with a long history of diversity among its people. To say, "we do not support hate or rejecting people", but [to] only, "support legitimate categories listed by the EOB," is an attempt to promote rejection of LGBT Belizean's citizenship right…

We call on the NEAB to read the revised EOB to become more accurate in its position, to reflect the words of the Council of Churches and the Catholic Bishop value of human dignity, and to replace its bigotry with efforts to advance the equal protection of all citizens." End quote.
