And in our last story for tonight on the Senate Meeting, Attorney General Peyrefitte challenged Business Senator Mark Lizarraga for the dispute that he and his constituents have with the Land Tax Amendment Bill of 2020.
That's the proposed government relief initiative that the Barrow Administration is seeking to offer to Belizeans. They want to ease landowners from land taxes in these harsh COVID-19 times. But, the Business Senator says that in its current form, the bill will give a tax break to persons engaging in the business of land speculation, as well as wealthy landowners who don't need the help.
