New Port Commissioner Is Old Face At Port

The Briceno Administration has appointed a new Ports Commissioner, who will replace Merlene Bailey-Martinez. She had led the Port for 7 years. The new government's pick for Ports Commissioner is Major H. Gilbert Swazo, the former PUP Mayor of Dangriga Town.

A Government Press described Swaso as, quote, "a renowned Maritime Expert and a Certified Master Marine Surveyor." Swazo is also a former BDF major who served in he BDF for twenty-four years. He also worked at the Belize Port Authority as the Operations Manager and Deputy Ports Commissioner.
